Before Restoration

Condition on Arrival

Traditional Chinese ink on paper works are particularly vulnerable to Singapore's humid climate. This piece had developed significant staining and yellow foxing spots across the full surface — most visible across the open white areas of the composition. The client, a corporate collector, wanted the work cleaned and restored ahead of being reframed and installed in their new offices.

After Restoration

The Finished Work

Following a thorough cleaning process, all staining and yellow foxing spots were fully removed. The work was remounted onto a fresh backing prior to reframing and installation. The restored piece clearly shows the original brilliance of the ink against a clean white ground — exactly as the artist intended.
