After
Before Restoration
This outdoor steel sculpture at a condominium had deteriorated severely. Paint loss and flaking were present across the entire work — partly a consequence of Singapore's climate, and partly the result of poor-quality paint used in the original finish. The sculpture's position against a wall of plants had introduced a further problem: moisture from rain dripping off the foliage and from regular watering had allowed extensive mould growth to take hold on the rear surfaces, visible here as dense green and grey biological growth covering much of the metal. The MCST engaged us to strip the sculpture back to bare metal and repaint it to the original colour specifications.
After Restoration
The original paintwork was completely stripped without the use of loud tools — a key consideration given the sculpture's location within a residential condominium. All mould was removed and the metal surface prepared before being repainted to exact colour specifications: bold red and gloss black, using a high-quality outdoor weatherproof paint. Additional protective coatings were then applied to extend the lifespan of the finish in Singapore's demanding outdoor conditions. The MCST and residents were extremely pleased with the result.
