Before Restoration

Condition on Arrival

This decorative oil on canvas arrived with a significant volume of mould spots across the surface — particularly visible against the deep blue of the background and across the textured impasto of the tree canopies. We suspect something may have been sprayed on the work, such as essential oils, which created conditions for the mould to take hold. The client wanted the work thoroughly cleaned and the mould removed to restore it to its original state.

After Restoration

The Finished Work

We thoroughly cleaned the work and removed all mould spots, followed by careful and minimal touch-ups to ensure we respected the original artwork as much as possible. As the close-up images show, the mould is entirely gone — the blue background is clean and the textured impasto of the tree canopies is fully restored.
