Before Restoration
This large sculptural bench installation had weathered significantly from years of exposure in a semi-outdoor setting. The timber had faded and was heavily scratched across the seat and backrest surfaces, losing much of its original warmth and colour. The steel hardware — brackets, bolts and frame ribs — had rusted considerably, with corrosion visible across all the metal components. The work required a full surface treatment across both the timber and metal elements to bring it back to its original condition.
After Restoration
Following thorough cleaning and sanding of all timber surfaces, the wood was re-oiled to restore its deep, warm reddish-brown tone. The metal hardware was treated and refinished throughout. The result is a dramatic return to the installation's original character — the rich timber grain fully revealed and the sculptural form reading clearly once again in its setting.
