Before Restoration

Condition on Arrival

The client had been considering replacing this decorative oil on canvas entirely rather than restoring it. There was nothing structurally wrong with the work — the issue was a significant build-up of dirt, dust, and mould across the surface, a common problem in Singapore where humidity makes indoor environments difficult to control. The discolouration was especially pronounced across the lighter areas of the canvas.

After Restoration

The Finished Work

We provided a cost-effective alternative to replacement — cleaning down the entire surface, treating all affected areas, and applying a fresh protective varnish. The result speaks for itself: the colours are vivid again, the surface is clean and uniform, and the work has been given a new protective layer to extend its lifespan in Singapore's challenging climate.
