Before Restoration
This striking wall installation at a private Singapore home consists of three large birds cast in copper, mounted across a substantial circular steel plate. While the steel backing remained in excellent condition, the three copper birds had suffered considerable exposure damage from Singapore's sun and rain. The original paintwork had degraded across all three pieces — showing staining, blistering and uneven discolouration — with the underlying copper visible in a number of areas. The birds were carefully removed for restoration in our studio.
After Restoration
The existing damaged paintwork was fully stripped and rough areas sanded smooth before a high-quality primer was applied. We then worked with the client to select a suitable gold tone — warm and lustrous, sympathetic to the sculptural form of the birds. The chosen paint is specially formulated for outdoor use, and additional protective coatings were applied to extend the lifespan of the finish. The three birds were then reinstalled across the steel disc, completing the work as an elegant centrepiece for the home's facade.
